Fabien Offner previously was a Senior Researcher at Amnesty International from 2019-2025, where he focused on the nexus between business and human rights. He also researched human rights violations in conflict situations in Cameroon and West Africa. As part of his work, he conducted advocacy within the institutions of the United Nations, the African Union, and the European Union.
Prior to Amnesty, he worked as a journalist covering major geopolitical events and documenting human rights abuses in West and Central Africa. Since 2010 he has lived successively in Bamako, Conakry, and Dakar, covering environmental issues related to the mining sector, armed conflicts in Mali, Niger, and the Lake Chad region, the Ebola epidemic in Guinea, and regional political crises. He also worked as a regional correspondent for the investigative website Mediapart.
Fabien received a master’s degree in history and political science from the Sorbonne University in Paris.
