Position Overview

Climate Rights International (CRI) is dedicated to preventing and addressing climate-change related human rights abuses; holding governments, corporations, and financial institutions accountable for climate-related harms; and centering people in climate discussions and policies worldwide. CRI is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as an Associate focused primarily on administrative responsibilities, support for fundraising, and, time permitting, research support. The successful candidate will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area and will work at home.

This position reports to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth functioning and efficiency of the day-to-day administrative functions and operations of the organization.
  • Work with CRI management and vendors to oversee payroll, human resources tasks, and contractor payments, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for external entities, such as accountants, insurance brokers, and web developers.
  • Update and maintain the organization’s website, troubleshoot issues, and code documents for publishing.
  • Research and identify new tools and technologies to enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support research on individual and institutional donor prospects, compile comprehensive profiles, and maintain donor database.
  • Assist with donor relations, including correspondence, acknowledgments, and reporting.
  • Assist with the writing, submission, and follow-up of grant proposals to foundations and individuals.
  • Assist with events, track invitees and attendees, collect contact information, conduct follow-up.
  • Proofread and disseminate the organization’s reports, press releases, opeds, and letters to governments and companies.
  • Produce high-quality written content for internal and external communications, including newsletters and website updates.
  • Assist with social media management, crafting engaging posts, and monitoring online presence.
  • Conduct background research on specific subjects, laws and policies related to climate change and human rights.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Clear willingness to carry out administrative support responsibilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with experience conducting background research and data analysis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based tools.
  • Experience with website management and content management systems including Elementor and Mailchimp is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
  • Commitment to handle sensitive and secure information appropriately, including related to organization finances and program research.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with a nonprofit or advocacy organization is desirable.
  • Familiarity with climate change issues, human rights, and sustainability concepts is desirable.
