On April 20, CRI Founder and Executive Director Brad Adams spoke to the BBC’s World Business Report about US President Joe Biden’s newly announced commitments of $1 billion to the Green Climate Fund and $500 million for the Amazon Fund. Adams criticized the commitment as “not even really a drop in the rising sea levels” of what is needed to help developing countries mitigate and adapt to climate change, and suggested a windfall tax on the oil and gas industry to make up the massive shortfall. “People in poor countries need this assistance urgently – they need it yesterday,” he said. “And now, in many parts of the world, they’re not going to see it for many, many years to come.”
